As a smart (in both senses of the word) kid I always had an answer for everything.
Here is an example.
Sitting staring out of the window aka in early writer-mode.
Parent/teacher/friend. ‘What are you doing?!’
Me. ‘Growing my hair!’

So now when people say, wow doesn’t your hair grow fast, I can give a knowing smile and feel sad for Kojak.
